My daughter used to hike a different mountain peak every summer in Wyoming. She'd increase the challenge each year. My brother didn't feel good about her choice one year. "It's manageable, but the trails are really marked and the altitude at the end is a bit of a kick." I assured him that we'd be fine but if he wanted to join us he was welcome. Towards the end, she and I were both about "done". She had youth and determination on her side and was not going to turn back.
I let her go ahead with her uncle. I rested on a log in the middle of a field of incredible flowers and waited for them. Not sure why this coat reminded me of hikes that in Wyoming. That one is a regret of mine. I should have finished. Adding that to my list.
