ABOUT SAPANA

What does SAPANA mean?

Sapana means “dreams” in Nepali.

Years ago, a question I asked often… “What are your dreams”? In fact, our tagline was “Everyone dreams, what’s yours”?

A lot has changed since then, but the name still feels just right for a brand built around creativity, possibility, and seeing what something could become.

You can learn more about Sapana here.

When do you release new pieces?

There’s always something new in the works around here! Because we work with vintage and one-of-a-kind textiles, new pieces are added throughout the year rather than following a traditional collection calendar.

Keep an eye on our website and social media for new arrivals, SAPANA EDITS, and whatever we dream up next.

STYLING + TEXTILES

Are all SAPANA pieces one of a kind?

Our Blanket Coats are made from individual vintage Kantha quilts, making each coat truly one of a kind. Our Dhurrie Collection are made from handwoven rugs, so colors and patterns vary from piece to piece. Other styles, like our Sari Collection, may be made in small batches, but the unique textiles and handcrafted details mean you'll still find beautiful variations between pieces.

That individuality is part of what we love most about SAPANA.

How do I care for my blanket coat?

Your Blanket Coat has lived a few lives before finding its way to you. Made from vintage Kantha quilts that have been layered, repaired, and stitched by hand over the years, these textiles deserve a little extra care.

Visit our Product Care page for everything you need to know about caring for yours.

Can i see styling inspiration?

Absolutely! Follow us on Instagram for styling inspiration, new ways to wear your pieces, and plenty of ideas for mixing SAPANA into your everyday wardrobe.

Also, you can see our Lookbooks for styling inspiration here!

Will my piece look exactly like the photos?

We do our best to photograph our pieces as accurately as possible. For one-of-a-kind items, the piece pictured is the piece you’ll receive, including its unique colors, patterns, stitching, patches, and other details.

Please keep in mind that colors can vary slightly from screen to screen. Because many of our textiles are vintage and handmade, washing and caring for your piece can also affect the way the fabric softens, drapes, and lays over time.

For our recommendations on keeping your piece looking its best, visit Product Care.

Can you tell me more about the textiles?

We could talk about them all day.

SAPANA is built around three things: handcrafted, repurposed, and vintage. We work with textiles that already have a story—from vintage Kantha quilts stitched by hand to woven dhurries and repurposed saris—and give them another life through thoughtful, simple design.
